Angela Vincent, recipient of North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE)’s “30 Under 30” and alumni of the Urban Sustainability Master of Arts program sat down with us to talk about her experiences as a student at Antioch University Los Angeles.

My time at Antioch was expansive. I learned so much about the most troubling problems we face as a society, but also gained experiencing trying to address these problems through the residencies. I was constantly inspired by my fellow classmates. We all share the same desire to help people and the planet, but we all do it in our own way. It was a time of learning and growing. It was sitting with the harsh realities of our world and then rolling up our sleeves to try and start chipping away at them. I cherish my time at Antioch.

"We take some songs like 'Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star' and 'Pat-a-Cake' and we keep the same tune, but change the lyrics to represent the environment," Angela Vincent said. "It helps get the kids engaged in small things such as turning the water off when you brush your teeth or how to recycle properly or how to support your local farmer's market. If you get kids learning about this stuff at a young age then it comes natural for them later."

Queen Green attended the 12th Annual National Clean Energy Summit (https://cleanenergysummit.org) in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, October 13th.  This event brought together leaders from all over the country and across the political spectrum who are championing clean and renewable energy.

The Honorable Al Gore gave the key note and reminded us all of the urgency to act now and fast. You can catch the live stream here:

Do yourself a favor and watch An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power (https://inconvenientsequel.tumblr.com) and check to see if a Climate Reality Training (https://www.climaterealityproject.org) is in your neighborhood.

Founded by former Senate Majority Harry Reid (from my hometown), this conference has been instrumental in bringing together Republicans and Democrats all with a shared vision of tapping into the clean energy revolution in the name of climate change and sustainability.

Governors shared their visions, mayors shared their tactics, and the military shared their need to transition from fossil fuels. Business women and policy experts shared how innovation and technology are powering renewable energy.

A highlight of the conference was photographer Jamey Stillings (https://www.jameystillingsprojects.com/) "CHANGING PERSPECTIVES: ENVISIONING RENEWABLE ENERGY" project that showcases renewable energy development. His work "is meant to inspire, inform, and challenge us to envision a future where renewable and sustainable energy production replaces our current dependence on fossil fuels.
